Golden Rules: How to Identify

Sentence Type Key Identifying Features (Clues)
Simple Only ONE Main Verb. Look for phrases like: "On seeing", "In spite of", "Due to", "Being", "Having + V3".
Compound Two equal clauses joined by: and, and then, but, yet, so.
Complex One main clause and one dependent clause starting with: When, Though, Although, As, Since, If, Which, That.
